Hey everyone, I wanted to see what everyone's opinions are on Eikaiwa textbooks and what ones proved useful for your Eikaiwa class (or which ones were really shitty). I am also concerned about price (as I want the class to be affordable). It will be an open, general class (most likely adults) with beginner to intermediate English skills (native speaker pre-K to middle school student level). I am open to making my own materials, but that's a lot of work to prepare a full textbook in less than a month.

When I did eikaiwa I just did everything myself, but it was also intermediate/advanced so everybody could already talk on their own. I mostly just made some activity sheets and found an article for them to read/debate, etc.
But if your course includes beginners maybe a proper structured textbook would be more helpful. Unfortunately I know absolutely nothing about those, sorry. :/

Also can't help with textbooks but if you're ok with worksheets most ESL websites should have something?

For reference, maybe you could check out the books AJET published way back when - Planet Eigo and Foxy Phonics. They're both completely available online and have worksheets and stuff. ajet.net/resources/teaching-resources/
