More kenshuu questions for senpais.
So, got the schedule stuff today (yay! finally!) and it said that they would give us a prepaid card for food? Is this like a cafeteria (never mind, hue. The answer was in the papers).
Also, is this like Mid-Year Chaos where hotels are kind of a free-for-all, or do we all stay in the same place? Read further and looks like it's the "they book for us" approach.
Just... disregard.

The venue is made for events like this so, we will be both staying and having our lessons on site. There seems to be a dorm system where we have our own bedrooms and then there's shared dining and common areas. There's also a curfew of 11pm. I'm not sure how the food card works, but our meals are covered in the cost your CO is paying for you to attend, so there should be somewhere to eat on site. But Kyoto is also super close so, it should be possible to go exploring in the evenings once classes are done if we want to.

Thanks! Yeah, I read through the stuff a little more and it does seem like this is the case. There was stuff talking about using the library and the computer room so it seems like it'll be more college campus-like. I definitely know I'll be visiting Kyoto at some point, though!

You can also use it at the little shop thing they have inside! As for accommodation, JIAM is actually a big dorm like place and we each get a room there ^^ You can go out after class for dinner if you want, but there's an 11pm ish curfew!

Read further and looks like it's the "they book for us" approach. Everybody stays in the same place, and you get assigned your own room. It's basically a dorm. As for the prepaid card, you can use it for buying food at the cafeteria and for buying stuff from the store in the venue. You can opt to have your meals on site or go out to eat. It's entirely up to you, but I would recommend using up all the money in the prepaid card before you leave on Friday because you can't reimburse it or use it anywhere else. By the way, you have to get a ticket from the ticket vending machines when you choose what food to eat from the cafeteria. There will definitely be long queues for the ticket machines so be prepared! Iirc you can get all your tickets for the day at once (i.e. when you go for breakfast, you can also get your lunch and dinner tickets)

Checked, and the earliest I can get to the closest station is 12:25, but I want lunch... Maybe I can convince soup that it's impossible to arrive in time. I shall work on this. I know I'm quoting myself, but I just had to announce: SUCCESS!! Since it is physically impossibly for me to get there before registration ends if I leave the day of, I'm allowed to go part way the day before.

There’s a lot of space iirc so definitely has meet up hosting potential, it’s just that you probably want to occupy the space quickly

It's essentially a lounge, really, that has a bartender/waiter. Pretty spacious, IIRC, with couch/table and chair/table setups.

Are we supposed to bring the textbooks to the kenshuu? No, you won't use them, and you'll have kenshuu homework already.

Anyone know from previous years how strict they are with the test deadlines?
We've got a big work event this weekend and I've ended up working overtime nearly every day this week and by the time I get home I'm just too exhausted to get things out to record me interpreting. - I already did the translation questions and just have my answers saved in a Word Document but, I probably won't get a chance to submit this month's test until next week sometime (So, about a week late)

I've turned tests in late more than once and nothing happened... They might send you an email to explain how to submit it.

Does anyone have advise/tips or just general notes about what to expect for the 修了者 course? I had a great experience last year. My class really fit my level well, and I felt a big improvement between before and after the course. I'm a bit more nervous this year. How is the format/difficulty different? Does anyone have an good specific prep strategies (certain type of listening, shadowing or retention exercise etc.). Anything at all that you wished you had known before?

The KEMSYU and the books really don't have much to do with one another ^^;;
