Also you can register words in the IME dictionary like いつもお世話になっております so you don't have to type it out. Also ppl with irregular kanji names. Also you can go into IME properties and change it so it stops changing your English to ZENKAKU and to HANKAKU only

If you have to send letters to lots of people you can use 差し込み印刷 aka merge mailings And create rules so you only have to make 1 document Google some tutorials it's very handy

hi. if you want 半角 + or - or * etc while typing in japanese without having to switch keyboards, use the number pad (if you have one)
all of those functions /*-+. show up as is if you input from that number pad, regardless of input

This is going to sound really dumb, but does anyone know how to type a backslash (i.e. \ ) using the Japanese keyboard? Mine keeps giving me a yen sign instead and I can't figure out how to change it even though I tried googling for help.

Holy shit you're right....
You can type スラッシュ and press space, but that just gets you this one \ which is too slanty.
Hmm.

Yeah I have a key that says \ on it, but when I hit it all I get is a yen symbol. Even when I'm typing in English like right now.

i mean i can't type the yen symbol unless i'm typing in Japanese so don't worry, i have my own struggles too

Oh god that looks so complicated. D: D: D: I guess I'll just use the スラッシュ method you mentioned though I find it incredibly weird that when I press the 変換 button, it gives me full width options for both backward and forward slashes, but only a half width option for the backward slash. WHAT IS THIS DISCRIMINATION.
EDIT: Hm seems like it might be a problem with my Microsoft Word in general. I can type the \ just fine in other fonts in other applications like my internet browser or Notepad, but it's impossible to do it in Word and even if I try copying and pasting it turns back into a yen symbol. Yeah guess I'll have to stick to the \ method for now. :/
i mean i can't type the yen symbol unless i'm typing in Japanese so don't worry, i have my own struggles too I tried copying and pasting my \ which I copied from the internet into my word document and it frigging turned back into a yen symbol! I HAVE TOO MANY YEN SYMBOLS CAN I GIVE YOU SOME OF MINE.

Oh if I'm typing in Japanese English letter mode and press the button that has a yen symbol on it, it gives me \? shift yen button gives me |. If I'm in Japanese hiragana mode it gets me ¥ and | with shift. If I'm typing in English mode than nothing happens when I hit that button. Underscore is shown on the button (though \ is not), but I don't know how to make that happen. I also discovered that if I click on a link with the scroller wheel on my mouse, then it opens the page in a new tab.

If you too get annoying hanging indentations that squooshyour text together and make it look likethis everytime you start a new line
Ctrl Shift T will fix your indenting problems
Unfortunately I haven't been able to find where to delete this as the default setting but good lord I am just so happy to not have to deal with STUPID INDENTING anymore

This is on their front page, but somehow I never noticed it before: jisho.org can convert Japanese numbers (ex. 4778万 → 47,780,000) and Japanese years (ex. 昭和52 → 1977).
