I don't think reading Japanese writing is enough. Reading something and understanding it is a wholly different neural process from producing it yourself.
In my experience the most effective ways to get better at WAYAK are to:
a.) study other WAYAKs by comparing the original English to the WAYAK version b.) actually WAYAK and get corrected by a native speaker
そうしないとなかなか上手にならないかも...

Sorry i don't know where to post this...
I am supposed to submit some written comments for improving the state of the village education, like "buy more English books" or "have more international events"
what is the most accurate word for "proposals" or "suggestions"? 申し出?

For anyone else who struggles with WAYAKU (since that's like all I do and I suck at it), I have started uploading small snipits to a website called Lang8 and letting native NIPONJIN correct my awfulness. 非常に参考になります。

I love lang8... That's a really clever way of using it, too.

Anyone have any good references with examples of fancy letters? I'm just trying to wayak a birthday letter to our mayor but I'm really struggling to come up with the appropriate phrases even though I know I've seen them before...this would be a lot easier if I wasn't clapping ears and could dig through some of the letters I've translated into English. I asked my kakaricho for some references last week, but the ones he sent weren't quite what I needed, and he's not in the office today either
