as a spin off from the EIGO or NO GO thread
i hereby propose a poll version, which can be updated with requests to have people vote on appropriate usage of the english language
i would like to start with a little something that has bothered me for some time.
specialty? speciality?
please vote for whichever you think is more correct. you may add comments in the thread.

Except the only person who can update the poll is you (or an Eternal Overlord) so that seems a bit complicated.
Anyway, could this one be another UK vs. American English thing?

this is interesting, because according to the online etymology dictionary, "specialty" actually might be the older word. usually it's the lazier pronunciation that's newer. also:
"compare personalty/personality; realty/reality"
personalty lmao
interesting that "specialty" survived when the other variants of "personality" and "reality" did not
