Hi everyone,
I started my first powerpoint after watching the Mid-Year Chaos 効果的なプレゼンテーション lecture, and I have slowly been figuring out all the tricks he used in his PowerPoints
So far I have figured out the following: Click-away boxes Words Scrolling Across the Screen Clicking objects/pictures to switch slides Clicking objects to make actions (something moving/disappearing/appearing) happen Timing of actions Setting pictures and different colored patterns as backgrounds Inserting gifs into slides (actually really simple) And some other simple stuff
Main thing I have learned while doing this: Don't ever use a template.
Anyways hit me up if you have any questions I might be able to help with, and if you know how to do cool stuff I didn't listed, I want to add it to my repertoire so post on here!

I was asking earlier this month about how to do those boxes that disappear and reappear after clicking ON them. Can explain that to me? I only figured I'd have to make it a link where the box does not exist, with a second click to go back to the slide.

Yeah sure thing.
Step 1: Add a 終了 action to the box like クリア, フェード, or スライドアウト Step 2: Go to the アニメションの詳細設定 ribbon to the right of where all the actions are and click on アニメション ウインドウ Step 3: Find the action that you made, right click on it and click タイミング Step 4: At the bottom of タイミング, click the 開始のタイミング button and a few more options will appear Step 5: Select 次のオブジェクトのクリック時に効果を開始 then use the drop down tab to choose the box that you made.
Its better to do this with just one box when you first make the slide and then copy it, or else you will have trouble figuring out which box is which in the drop down tab.

Is there a way you can show different levels of items that are covered by other animated items? Something that happens a lot is I have to correct text that will be covered by an image on click, but when you're editing the slide all you can see is the image covering up the text. Is there a way to make the image not display temporarily (without moving it physically and then having to move it back)?

I got that, but, how do I make it reappear, like the guy did with the text?

I know what you are talking about, but I haven't figured out a good way to do that either. I usually try not to go more than three deep and then keep them about the same size so that its easy to realign them afterwards. Also, rather than just using the preset animations, you could try setting some of your animated items as アニメションの軌跡 and making it so they start outside of the slide and move in. Since they start outside of the slide they won't get in your way when you are trying to edit other animations. Can you give me a scenario where you would need to stack more than one or two text filled items though?

The last two times we've done a tourism PR presentation, the slide for Tokyo Bay will say something like "FUJISAN and Tokyowan" and then two pictures of Mt. Fuji behind Tokyo Bay swoop in/appear over the text. The images themselves don't have text on them, but it's annoying to have to move the precisely-placed (I assume) images to fix the text, then move them back. I'm picturing like layers on Photoshop where you can hide certain layers temporarily, but not sure if that function is available in PPT?

Hmm I have been looking around and all I can see so far is that if you cut the picture, edit and then re-paste it, it will paste in the same place you cut it from. If i find some way to make pictures invisible or transparent I will let you know! There might be a way to layer stuff too like in Adobe, but again not sure.

Here is a link to the Powerpoint I made for the 1st years. It went really well and they giggled the entire time. There are a few areas that I would change on it, but for the most part was really nice. It also progressed much more smoothly than a regular PowerPoint. Let me know if it gives you any problems downloading. drive.google.com/file/d/0B2PTeigAUVf9OWpHdXhMYTdZdnM/view?usp=sharing

I unfortunately didn't attend this presentation and I feel like I missed out on a lot. Were the materials useful, and if so, would anyone be able to email them to me? I tried to pick up all of the handouts from the workshops I didn't go to, but missed this one...

Looks really interesting and well made. I thought the bus would never make it to school...was it the bus driver from the Simpsons?

You should be able to select background objects in modern versions of word and power point without copying/deleting, etc. support.office.com/en-us/article/Select-a-shape-or-other-object-8db4e2f6-873a-46a7-87cb-fbb998a1f955Personally I now spend less time on animations and more in making nice templates/backgrounds and picking attractive pictures as I have found it makes for more engaging presentations. I really want them to focus on me and what I'm saying with the power point as a enhancement and not a distraction.

I really want them to focus on me and what I'm saying with the power point as a enhancement and not a distraction. I usually try and animate things that I want them to pay attention to. Also, my target for this presentation was a bunch of 1st graders so I tried to make it funny. Don't want them falling asleep and the animations get them cracking up right away.

I see, first graders! I only present to adult audiences. Yes, that would be different.

They really need to start videotaping these and putting them up on a CIR Youtube channel or something.

Maybe I can do that as a job after I retire from being CIR this year. Just set up systems that record the slides being used and an overall video of the speaker at the same time. Charge CLIAR like 10 men per video.

You also helped me discover new animation functions that I never bothered to explore before wow thanks. Also please tell me about how to put gifs thing?

むちゃRABU❤ I think it took me about 3 hrs in total trying to figure out how to make all the effects that he showed us, and then a few more hours playing with details that probably wasn't necessary, I just did it because I was having a lot of fun haha. Now that I know how to do everything though it doesn't take nearly as long. As for adding gifs, just right click it while its moving and copy it, then when you paste it in powerpoint, click the paste option that says 貼り付け先のテーマを使用. It won't move when you are in editing mode but when you switch to presentation mode they will move. Did you find my pokemon gif on the 3DS?

XD I also opened the ppt and scrutinized all the effects you used. HAHA. Very creative XD I don't have an opportunity to use all the stuff that he taught us yet (and I'm already starting to slowly forget it. Oh dear.) but I hope I may have soon? Kids will love it.

I was also hoping people would run with it and come up with stuff that I haven't figured out yet, so we can all become PowerPoint experts together! haha
