I agree with snell_mouse , if you make "egg opening time" and then have a box/bucket they can all throw the shells into, that'll save you from having to buy them next year! (and they're just going to throw them out anyway) Last year at songbanana's first Easter, we went on an easter egg hunt in my hulemdo's house and after a lot of searching I finally found my egg!! yay!! then imagine my face when I was told there was candy inside!!!! Way better than Passover where you play a similar game where Aunt Muriel hides the afikoman which is just a piece of matzoh bread and everyone has to look for it so obviously Matthew is going to find it because he is 10 years older than you, and then he gets $10 for finding it, but then when YOU are the oldest cousin everyone has their OWN afikoman and now you gotta help a toddler find a piece of しtty matzoh in the couch and your prize is you get to eat your しtty couch matzoh because this holiday is about suffering.

In order to get my plastic eggs back, I did a special prize for five of the eggs so the kids had to open their eggs to find out if they were ATARI or not.
It worked out fine and took probably less than 5 minutes max.

Hm, I asked my coworker what he thought (and told him how much the eggs cost etc. and he was all like "I think it's okay for them to keep them" so I guess I won't bother. I'm not going to use all of the eggs I have, so if I get a similar or smaller turnout next year, I won't have to worry about it even if people keep the eggs.

1:30-2:00 check-in 2:00-3:30 making bunny baskets (this will take longer than past crafts because I will have to actually instruct everyone how to do it, but it's still fairly simple), egg dying. I will have everyone do the baskets first, and then we will move over to a kitchen to do the eggs so that volunteers can hide eggs in the main room while the kids are doing eggs. 3:30-4:00 egg hunt Hey! I'm interested in doing an Easter egg dyeing event in the future. Can I ask where you were able to find dye/how was the event overall? Was it doable doing real eggs vs plastic eggs, what kind of facility did you use to have a room to hide eggs in, etc.? I briefly threw out the idea and my coworker didn't shoot it down, per se, but I think because I don't have a solid idea in mind yet it wasn't taken seriously. They did mention that as far as locations go, I probably wouldn't be able to rent out mulitple rooms in a 公民館 or anything for hiding eggs, but I also feel like the parks here are too flat/open to hide eggs... If you were able to successfully do it though I'd love to pick your brain about the details, to see if I could do something like that here too : )

I boiled the eggs for dying at my house the night before and it was a struggle bc I kept breaking them haha I always did my events at a koumimkan, I'm pretty sure we just hid the eggs in one big room (like the kind that has a stage at one end) I'm pretty sure I managed to pull it all off? Or at the very least it wasn't a disaster 🤔

does anyone have any cute ideas for an easter event name? i was thinking "Bunny Bash" but i already called my halloween event a bash i was also considering "(city name) bunny hop"? and when it's put on our website, the full thing would be "イースターを楽しみましょう!(city name) Bunny Hop" but i'm not sure

Gonna post under Easter thread since it is an Easter event-related inquiry : v
Am going to (finally) run my first event as a CIR with an Easter Egg Craft Workshop this month. Hoorah For context, we will be grabbing a bunch of Styrofoam eggs and having kids draw, put stickers, or washi tape on them and they can string them to hang like ornaments at home. Since bunny clocks, easter egg hunt, easter egg dye etc. didn’t get approved, this somehow did but anywho
My question – Since this event is primarily aimed at kids who I imagine will be anywhere from nursery school to elementary school students, I want to make a 分かりやすい handout that is one-page long and briefly introduces what Easter is, when it is, a tiny bit of its history, and how it is celebrates. Do you all think a bulleted list containing 1-3 points for what Easter is, its history, and how it is celebrated is enough for this kind of handout? Unfortunately, I am not allowed to use a projector screen to simply show Powerpoint slides and pictures for my event, so I am thinking of creating this handout instead and putting relevant pictures under each category of bullet points. : v
Or do we think the bulleted list is going to be too much? I’m thinking of using no more than 5 minutes to talk about this since kids will want to just make the egg crafts, which is totally understandable. : p

A handout with photos would be ideal
yes bulleted list would be easy to understand like put what is it, when, why, how, present time, etc. since younger kids will be reading these, make sure the font size is big.

Awesome, I kept the page short to avoid talking about it for too long (definitely no more than 5 minutes tops) so we can jump right into making the egg crafts and the kids and parents can just go home.
I included images and photos that directly correlate with each bullet point in hopes it is easy to follow, but will update on what soup says later
Thank you for the feedback, I greatly appreciate it! : )

Update: Paper explaining Easter in 分かりやすい words got approved so hoorah
Since the main event will focus on us decorating foam easter egg ornaments with stickers, marker drawings etc. Is there anything else you all think could supplement this event in case some kids finish early?
I got told nope to bringing candy or drinks, but I thought I could bring some 無料 coloring sheets for kids to work with or take home. Is there anything else I might be overlooking other CIRs think I should bring for this event that will primarily have nursery and elementary kids attend?

When I've done events like this we usually have a couple of tables with different crafts for the kids to rotate between so you don't have 1 large group at a time all doing the same thing.

Question for CIRs who have done multiple events with participants.
How did you learn what your participants were interested in when planning future events? Basically, how did you approach them without just asking questions one-way but rather naturally interacting with them?
soup said no paper アンケート for this Easter event because there will be too many young kids who won’t understand. So that’s out of the question.
Personally, I’m thinking of observing what kids draw or stick on their easter eggs, and perhaps noting from those cues what drawing crafts or events I can propose. Or – I can list up on the event venue’s whiteboard some pre-determined event ideas (some craft workshops, outdoor events, etc.) and have the kids just vote by drawing a circle or something under their favorite ideas. This way, it’s not confrontational and kids can feel free to answer anything they want.
Am I missing some additional tricks for learning what these kids may like for proposing future events aimed toward them?

So similar to your whiteboard idea, but use those round stickers for ppl to vote on what activity they'd like to do. アンケート is the most traditional way, but the whiteboard idea is a good one too. Also just observation, like you mentioned, seeing that activities the kids seem really interested in works too.

Yeah I guess making わかりやすいアンケート with simple questions didn’t cut it either.
But I like the markerboard and sticker idea, that would work well too! I plan on bringing a bunch of stickers anyway, so kids can go up there when they want to without waiting for someone else to use a few markers to write on the board instead.
