Hey guys so I decided that for my June event, I'd like to attempt a Summer camp theme and I thought I'd see if anyone had ideas that I haven't come up with yet?
So far I'd like to make s'mores, do some crafts (I'm thinking those plastic woven lanyards and then like, leaf prints or crayon rubbings using plants for younger kids), sing some songs/手遊び, and then maybe a game or two? I'm a little unsure of what kind of games to do, so maybe people who do/plan their own school visits could help me with that?
I tend to get a wide range of kids at my events, I have a solid group of 3-4 year olds that come every time, and a range of kids 5-10 as well.

Oh man, I'm just posting to give you a shoutout of "thanks" because I completely forgot that I need some event idea to propose sometime in the next two weeks...

Yeah, I know them as lanyards and I'd like to do them...just gotta figure out where to get that plastic cord ( Face of Leadership didn't you make these for an event recently?) and thanks! Some of those look really cute! I was also thinking about doing something with seashells since we have so many beaches here.

If you could find a large quantity of popsicle sticks you could do those popsicle stick picture frames with shells and stuff glued around the edges.

I was also thinking about doing something with seashells since we have so many beaches here. searching "scoubidou" on amazon jp brings up some results but most of them are quite expensive. in japan, there was a recent trend for making "loom bands" (ルームバンド) which use little plastic rings instead of string, but you can make something similar to scoubidou/lanyards. might be easier to get materials for those. hulemdoship bracelets could be another option (verrrrrry easy to pick up threads for those, daiso etc sell them.)

Yeah I thought about hulemdoship bracelets, it's just that I get a lot of young kids and I figured the plastic cord would be easier for more people to work with. And also it takes less time to actually make something.

Hey, yeah I did! Families seem to love making craft lace/scoubidou/lanyard crafts!
I sent you the link to where I bought mine. Its incredibly cheap compared to others. Make sure you practice. If you want I can send you a presentation I made explaining how to make them, or we can skype.

oh man I was so good at gimp. I can do all the stitches on the wikipedia except that dragon thing omg. Gimp is quite hard for under 6 to do well, and even for 7 and 8 year olds you often have to start it for them which means you have to go around before everyone can get started. Thread lanyards are a bit easier in that you don't have to hold it as steady (just tape it to the table) and it's easier to pull tight than gimp, so I think if you tie it and tape it for them, a 5-6 year old could do it by themselves. Edit: if you have parents or older children doing it with them, younger kids can do it, but it's a bit repetitive for everyone involved 7-10 year olds will get obsessed though and it's a great way to feel like you're at summer camp and kill an hour!
