Hey everyone, I don't post much on here but I am in a bit of a pickle and really need some help. I was asked recently (TODAY) to do a English to Japanese translation of Instagram's rules and terms and conditions regarding API's (application programming interfaces). Besides the fact that I am not experienced with English to Japanese translations in the first place, I know absolutely nothing about API's or coding or computers or anything related to technology really and was hoping for some help/any resources anyone may have that I could use. Here are some of the pages I have been asked to translate: www.instagram.com/developer/www.instagram.com/developer/authorization/www.instagram.com/developer/review/www.instagram.com/about/legal/terms/api/developers.instagram.com/I'm kind of terrified because they want this done by the end of this week and I'm 100% sure that will not happen because of other work duties I have, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would reset expectations because translating legalese and technical docs into your non-native language within days is not reasonable at all. Maybe tell them how many words/day you can reasonably do. They probably have no idea what such a project would entail, not that they are being mean. Also, maybe see what they really need. Perhaps just a summary or annotated English would suffice for their purposes, vs a full-fledged translation (Instagram themselves haven't bothered to do this into Japanese. Why? It's a pain in the ass!) I think the translation linked to is unofficial and from 2011 and looks like it will be a huge help.

Thank you so much! This is already going to help a ton with this.
I have already told my 係長 that I will not be finishing this anytime soon (two delegations coming in the next week and a half) and so I think that they will back off of this a little bit.
Also, sadly, this is already the "shortened" list of what they originally wanted translated, so there's not much I can do about that, but seriously the link is going to help me so much.
U R ALL SO GREAT i hope i am that great someday
