Got the email for T&I and was also told we have the budget for it
I'm very interested in going(??? can't believe it's currently planned for IN PERSON) but also... it starts the day after JLPT ;^; (Dec 6-10)
(also I'm scared of seeing how much smarter other returnee's would be compared to me and maybe I'd die of embarrassment)
but I wanted to see who else might be attending before I make any decisions!

I also only completed the original course for GANNENDO, and have never attended the returnee course. I think what I read is you can't apply for the returnee course again if you've taken it before.

I was sure I wasn't going to be able to do it, but my supe is going to talk to my kakalilong with me tomorrow I think? and if we have the budget I'll be fully vaxxed so I'm gonna do it. I have been on jet for cumulatively FIVE YEARS AND IT HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM ME BY CIRCUMSTANCE EVERY TIME. I am GOING to do this course because I would like to just SOME structured interpreting practice. that's all I want

We didn't have that online kouza when I did it years ago. We had these terrible books that had terrible examples that helped zero percent I might actually go through all of the online material just as a refresher, even though my 係 hasn't mentioned the course at all to me yet..... and maybe just skip the tests, hue

not necessarily R3 anymore, but I had a question about the new online T&I course
it looks really robust! but has anyone taken it before? i'm a fossil that did it in person in 2019 so im interested in brushing up again if the online portion (or, y'know, everything's online) is good practice, one that you Want To Do (rather than just take the tests like back in the day...)
thanks!!

I took it only online, as an ALT in 2021 Honestly, IMHO it was a big enough waste of my time that I stopped doing the lessons and only worked on JLPT stuff once it got close to test time. You've already done it but maybe it was run differently back then? When I did it, every single video of the entire course started off with the same intro, where the guy would remind you of 1 or 2 translation tips. But it was a copy/pasted video, so you only heard the same advice the entire time. It didn't really teach you -how- to translate better, which I found disappointing. Then, whoever was grading the answers was definitely not consistent. My hulemdos taking the course at the same time would compare our answers/scores after each quiz; there were several times where we basically wrote the same answer, but got pretty different scores. Or one I would argue my hulemdo wrote the more "correct" answer but got corrected to a less natural sounding phrase (it was something about a 山に跨っている町 which he wrote as 'a city surrouned by mountains' but got corrected to 'a city straddled by mountains'. Now I know you can use straddle as in 馬を跨る but I think that sounds wonky for the moutain town example. I used 'surrounded by' and got more points than he did). The sheer amount of new vocab was helpful for me but for people already working as a CIR maybe it wasn't as new? I would have loved to do the in-person stuff though, I hear that was really helpful for the interpreting stuff!
