I want to move in with my long term boyhulemdo and while we don't have any fixed plans to marry yet we do have the intention to get married in the not too distant future.(I know this is a requirement to even be considered for a transfer) He lives in another prefecture to the one where I work currently as an ALT and i'm considering asking for a transfer. Has anyone had any success in doing this or does anyone have any advice? Thank you:)

sorry i'm not too familiar with transfers but it might be helpful to scope out if there will be an opening in the prefecture that you want to transfer to. for the cases of people i knew who successfully transferred, they moved into an existing position so it was win-win for them and their new CO. this might be especially important if you're aiming for CIR since there are fewer positions

I am too late but answering this for future reference for everyone.
Not me, but they exist! It is a matter of luck, too coz you do not know when the positions open. There are a couple in Nagasaki (iirc prefectural) years ago like the consecutive CIRs were former ALTs and the most recent I know was the former prefectural CIR in Bear Origin. However it is not just a simple transfer, there are interviews for it.
