Just out of curiousity, has anyone ever been asked to present anything on the radio for work?
I have a meeting later today with an FM radio station. Apparently the 市役所 had a vague notion that I could do a weekly show, like mini english lessons or culture lessons or some other variety of talk show. Which sounds cool, just very surprising.
So I'm caught between 'this sounds fun' and 'ahahahaaa what am I doing'
Just thought I'd check if anyone else has been in a similar radio situation?

I have a segment with co-cir every 5th Sunday for about 10 mins where we're given a topic (eg vegetables, nursery rhymes, transport) and compare the UK/US/Japan for 10-15 minutes
Radio is fun, I recommend it

My radio work is rather lame.
Get emailed a GENKO. Translate that GENKO into EIGO.
Go SHUUROKU that GENKO verbatim at the radio station. Nothing more, nothing less.
Never hear it, because it airs at like 5:30 AM on saturdays.

Oooh, thanks for the feedback! I had literally never heard it mentioned by another CIR before so I wasn't sure if this was a thing or not. Seems like they're pretty happy to let me chat about whatever though, so that's nice. Probably a sort of US/Japan comparison somewhat similar to the segment Ividia mentioned. But it sounded like they're cool with me picking my topics, which is nice. Wonder if I can rope in the other local CIR into participating too, eheheh. Then we can do a US/Japan/New Zealand bit and widen the field a bit. Such KOKUSAI, much KOURYUU

I do a radio thing too, once a month where I talk about whatever topic I wrote for the KOHO. It's pretty laid back, I choose the topic and write the KOHO article, then the radio people write down what questions they want to ask me and we just chat for about 10 minutes about my topic.
It's pretty cool, though I think I'd be more apprehensive if it were a live gig, at present it's pre-recorded and can be edited, so I'm not as worried about messing up.
I think you should definitely try it out though, especially if you can choose your own topics.
Just NEVER listen to it later, you will be horrified at what your voice sounds like and worry about it every time you open your mouth from that day forward

Oooh, probably should've clarified whether it will be NAMAHOUSOU or not, that's a good line of inquiry for future...

German CIR and I are on the radio every Friday where we just translate events 30 mins before, then read them off when we get on the show. After that, we have a casual conversation with the host. Usually she has this conversation before hand, so we don't get thrown off by any new questions.
