Who here has to manage an instagram account for work? How do you guys end up going about it?
My office decided to start one and they are trying to figure out who and how to manage it. as of now everyone in the group has one day out of the week in which they are allowed to put up a picture or pictures, but because we are a division in the prefectural office there has to be a wide variety of pictures from places throughout Island Root and not just matsuse. they seem really hesitant about letting me post pictures from other fellow CIRs and ALTs so they just told me to tell them to use the hashtag and if they(people in the division) like the picture then they will repost it, but its not common for me to go to the other side of the prefecture due to it being like 4 hours one way so idk what to do.
So i just wanted to know how other people run their prefecture or cities instagram account? Should i just tell them i will tanto it even though there is a person who is supposed to be incharge of the SNS? (i think its a just a who will take responsiblity if something happens deal)

Hello! Instagram is literally my job! (Well general social media, but still!)
I think it's quite different from office to office, but the way that mine goes about it is pretty much this:
We have two accounts that are run by my office (PR division), one in Japanese which is run by my coworker and an English one that is run by me. We both post three pictures three times a week, each lot of three having a set subject. Generally we'll try and decide a post schedule by the beginning for the preceding month, but it's quite flexible, so it almost always changes as we go along.
In terms of management, we decide on a general operation policy before we go ahead which determines how often we post, whether we reply to comments or not, etc. Basically my KATYO has decided that we're not allowed to reply to comments, but for the most part I haven't needed to thus far, so I guess it doesn't matter so much?
If it helps, this is our management policy thingo for Facebook which is basically identical to the Instagram one if you wanna use that as a reference? www.pref.fukui.lg.jp/doc/about/experiencefukui_fb_d/fil/policy.pdf
I've only been doing this for a month, but if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask~
EDIT: In terms of taking pics, I do it all myself. Generally, I'll hitch a ride with my coworker when she goes to take photos for her account - e.g. we've gone all the way out to Tsuruga (almost two hours away) to take photos. I've been told I can go by myself by train if it's possible, but I haven't gotten around to it yet hue

Cool! thanks for all the info. I will inquire with the person in charge of our SNS PR about it when she comes back to work. At first they wanted everyone to have their own day, but yesterday before I left work she said I could just post whenever I wanted to..I feel like the posting randomly throught the week makes it feel like a natural instagram page. As for commmenting I should ask them about that too. Maybe me and Caic will go to Izumo taisha this weekend? pictures for work...haha Secretly for the starbucks

I agree with the posting randomly thing... I wish I could post more freely, but I guess it's just my CO's preference lel

ah yeah sorry I was sick...I did make an instagram to go with the facebook page/blog that my pred and grand-pred made, but there aren't any rules attached to it really, I just try to take pictures and post them as I'm out doing things...I also have a lot less area to cover since I'm just one small city.
Sorry that's not really helpful.
I'd really like to make it so that I can share my instagram posts on the corresponding facebook page but for some reason it only lets me share it on my personal facebook...anyone know how to do this?

FWIW, Miyagi Prefecture created an official Instagram page. I think they are soliciting pictures from ALTs who live in the prefecture. www.instagram.com/visitmiyagi/I haven't tried Instagram myself but hope to.

This is basically how I want to do my Instagram, but nope, I have post three images at a time like I'm a blog or something
I wish they would let me blog. Or I could actually update my private one hm.

Maybe you can show them this instagram as an example of a good one? True, but they want it be like me experiencing Fukui as a forienger, so the way I'm doing technically works from that point of view... but this kind of page was more what I had in mind before I actually started, so I'm just being a grump hue
