I did a search throughout the board for this and am surprised we don't have anything typed up here for just a visa renewal to continue being a CIR for more years. I'd like to eventually replace this top post with information for the future, as Wko and I are struggling to figure out things on our own without calling anyone. Granted, I am sure this would be far easier if I brought my passport with me to work >_>
1. What in the heck are we classified as for our occupation? FAKE EDIT: ISA told us we are #10 on the list. 2. Did you need your 住民税の課税証明書, 在職証明書, and 納税証明書 ? the ISA website does not say we need these but my AJET prefectural website does. To that - which forms exactly did you bring? 3. Is there additional work needed for the zairyu card or does it go hand-in-hand with the visa?

Please reading my blog post. Basically, this is what you need for the first visit: Application Forms (技術・人文知識・国際業務の申込書) Passport (パスポート) Residence Card (在留カード) 4 x 3 cm photo *Certificate of Employment from your CO (在職証明書) *Tax Certificate (納税証明書) *Certificate of Earnings (所得証明書) Copy of current contract (optional, but highly recommended) *Get these from your local city or town office. Your zairyu card is your visa, so there won't be any updates to the visa in your passport.

I did mine last year and did not need the tax or earning documents. My soup called the office beforehand, though, so maybe different offices ask for different things.
In my case, the AJET website is terribly out of date, so honestly I wouldn't trust it over the official website.

Speaking to my co-CIR it seems like even at the same office it can vary from year-to-year/just depending on your luck?
The firs time I renewed I was working at a publicly listed company, so all I gave them was my application form and a copy of my company's listing in the 四季報.
The second time (this year) as a direct hire CIR, I went once but forgot my passport (oops), but decided to check my documents anyways and was told to get a 課税証明書 and 納税証明書. I've never heard of a 在職証明書 and did not need one, but I did give them copies of my contracts.
