Complete vs. Incomplete Translations

This survey was interesting. I hope we can learn about the results of this survey later on. I always look for ways to improve my translating strategies and accuracy, but translating is an art in and of itself. I always remind myself that the translation does not contain my words but the original author's, so I must treat their text with extra care. However, it can be difficult, if not at times impossible, to always maintain the nuance of the source language when translating into the target language. It doesn't help when it is difficult to contact the original writer about what they wished to convey in their writing for reasons out of my control like their contact information is no longer up-to-date. In that case, I do my best to translate their work to the best of my ability and stay as honest as possible regarding why I decided to translate something as I did. Translation notes are a blessing in these situations.
