Hi all,
I've been requested for a festival in May where they want to have a 国際交流コーナー with either a craft or game that's English-based. I was requested for the same event last year and I had prepared a memory game, but they weren't too pleased with it because the event is outside and the cards kept getting blown away in the wind. I thought of something like red light green light to include some movement, but since it's targeted at 小中学生 I thought that might be too childish for some of them. What other activities or games do you think might be good?

In my experience with elementary school students, even 6th graders love playing games like that so I imagine 中学生 might still be willing to do it. Duck duck goose is always a big hit and easy to understand since they have essentially the same game.
Does it have to involve a lot of English? Maybe something like Simon Says could work too (or maybe that's taking the difficulty way up, I don't know).
Quiz games could also be good (I do one at elementary schools where I say a statement about America and make them stand on different sides of the room depending on if they think it's true or not).

We did 国旗カルタ last year. We printed some flags, about 20 or 25, on A4 paper and laminated them. On the other side we wrote the name of the country. Then people would sit in a circle, with all the flags バラバラ on the floor in the middle. A 司会者 would read a description of the flag, or some statement about that country and people playing the game had to find the right flag. In the end, the player who had more flags would win the game. You can do that in English or in Japanese, according to the level of players.

We also put the flag of Switzerland and that of the Red Cross, because we are 意地悪 and we like to bully kids

It was really fun, and both children and adults enjoyed it a lot. I also read a sentence in Italian, because they asked me, but they regretted it

Update: sooo apparently both my suggestions were rejected in favor of something completely different. *shrug*
