Hello all! I've been working as a CIR on a Nagasaki island for about 3 months now and although I'm a part of my city's tourism office my work up until this point has mostly been international events targeted toward locals. Today however my supervisor told me they're hoping to be able to hold normal events again next year and want me to submit some ideas of events I could host targeted at bringing foreign tourists to our island. I have to submit some ideas by the end of the week because they're submitting the budget for next year but I'm a bit at a loss because I don't have examples of any prior events to work off of. I think something like hosting an English tour would be really great but other than than I'm wondering if there is anyone with similar experiences that has suggestions? Any suggestions of events y'all have run or things you participated in would be really great! Thank you!!

Since you're looking to pull in inbound tourists, I second creating some English tour routes. If there is a local craft hold crafting events. Got specialty foods/cuisine, hold cooking classes.

Sorry, probably already outside of budget planning period, but you can try gathering locals who would want to talk with the tourists directly and do like a local food making activity? The only thing i can think of for Nagasaki is Chanpon, but I'm sure there's other specialties.
As for creating tour routes, you can try asking if its possible to contact influencers to come and advertise for more exposure.
Also if you want to aim towards a specific group of foreigners, you can also try sharing that country's culture to the locals thru several events to help ready the locals invite/attend with ppl of that country.

I actually got an English tour approved which I am very excited for! We're doing the first one next summer but it's going to be all-inclusive with participants only paying like man yen for the weekend and we're doing like a fugu experience, touring a shochu distillery and going to watch a Kagura performance! Now I just have to contact some influencers and try to get that worked out haha. I'm excited but a bit stressed because its going to be a lot involved haha

I'm sure u'll have a budget you'll need to stay within, but I'm sure u'll have fun! So... where do I sign up?? XD

And actually depending on the number of people I can fit inside the budget / interest I may open it up to JETs / CIRs that are interested so stay tuned hue
