Hello fellow CIRHPers : v
I wasn’t sure where else to post this outside of the non-work threads, so here I am.
Am currently struggling to get any proposed themes for our 広報’s 国際交流だより approved for the month of April, despite me honestly believing April would be easier to work with because cherry blossoms and spring events.
For record, the following have not been approved either because I don’t have my own photos of said topics and/or soup didn’t consider them appropriate for the column:
-Washington DC’s National Cherry Blossom Festival introduction/how it helps promote Japan in the US
-Denver’s Cherry Blossom Festival (similar style, intro + how it is helping to promote Japan in America where I am from)
-Colorado’s Japan Cup (based on Washington DC’s Japan Bowl competition that mainly tests middle, high, and college students on their knowledge about the Japanese language and places in Japan (ex. If a teacher shows a photo of Miyajima, students have to guess its name and what prefecture it’s in to earn points).
-Why I like seasonal food in Japan and what 期間限定 items I have tried in Japan and the US
Anywho, that is the wall of themes that have not and will not be approved.
For context, I have been told I can write about anything that “surprised me” since coming to Japan, which was why I mentioned seasonal food. But that ain’t doing it either. Lmao
For CIRs who write for their 広報s or write similar 国際交流 content for their jobs, what themes have you noticed work best for your work? I’m open to writing about anything at this point as long as I hopefully have photos for it.
Thank you for any ideas in advance and sorry for the long wall of text! v v
