hi y'all!!
my CO decided that we're gonna start circulating a CIR newsletter every 2 months or so, and i'm 担当-ing it <3
it's both japanese and foreign 向け, so there's gonna be a japanese version with furigana as well as translated versions.
THE PROBLEM IS that despite its strengths, my trusty canva doesn't have any built in features for inserting ルビ and when i googled it, i kept seeing suggestions about screenshotting text from another program and pasting a png file into the newsletter design.
which is 1) probably gonna look bad and pixelated and 2) not really worth all the effort considering how bad it'll look
so i was wondering if anyone knew of any design software that has built in japanese and ルビ support? i know i could use microsoft word but the idea of formatting a newsletter in word sounds awful :/

although it's a pain to get the sizing and formatting figured out, I just make separate text boxes for the hiragana, make them a bit smaller than the actual text, and layer them above the regular text
so basically making my own ルビ in text boxes and then just positioning them above the kanji by hand

Ditto. I have to manually add the ruby too. not unless you make the newsletter html-based you can use actual text then screenshot it (if the newsletter requires to be image format for IG post)?
