Okay y'all update - I think I found some low-cost event ideas that may work, and one I was curious to see if anyone had success leading (or a similar event) is board game night! I learned our BOE here has multiple English board games including Monopoly and others and I thought it would be a bit interesting to briefly explain their history (like why they were made and how they got popular) before we played. If anyone has incorporated a board game into their event - How many people did you have and how did you make it work?

We have a very small eikaiwa, with anywhere from 2-5 regular students. We usually do game nights on holidays or maybe the final lesson before a break. I didn't think to explain about the history of the games, that's an interesting idea. We would create a simple PPT to explain how the game is played, then play the game for the remaining time.
Recent games have included Jenga, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, and Coup. I also have Exploding Kittens, so we might try that one next.

Exploding kittens is fantastic.
At our house we also have Throw Throw Avocado, which is lots of fun, but may require a little more supervision, hue
