Hey guys, I was asked to come up with some generic place/people names to replace the names of real ones in a script we're using for a interpreting workshop.
Any ideas? The original involved a delegation from America so American-sounding things would be best, but I'm also interested in hearing what generic-sounding names in other countries might be too.
Ideas I have so far - Names: John Smith, Jane Doe Places: Springfield (apparently it's the most common city name?), Bakersfield, something something ville? I particularly need help with a generic place name that isn't too obviously a real place.
Thank you~

Bakersfield is a fairly large city in California no? Springfield could be OK since it is used by the Simpsons after all.
My generic (tony-sounding suburban) place name ideas:
Pleasantville Fairview (totally stole that from Desperate Housewives >.>) Brookville Sunny Springs Oak Heights

Hm I thought about Pleasantville but since it's like a movie (or TV show?) or something I wondered if that might be better to avoid...I kind of like Sunny Springs.

Metropolis! Gotham City! Smallville! Entenhausen (or Duckberg, apparently in English)

Haha somehow I doubt they'd let me put Gotham City in the 資料...though it's also entirely possible they wouldn't recognize it and it would go through.

How about Townsville?

I was thinking about Townsville, actually! I found a site that lists all the cities in the US (what) and was looking through them and thought that would be nicely bland.
Any other generic names (for people)?

Any other generic names (for people)? Bob Loblaw. Seriously though, the go to one in the UK would be John Smith or Joe Bloggs.

Joe Bloggs, interesting. I've never met anybody named Bloggs - is it common in the UK?

The last time I was writing example conversation for my English class, I went to the wikipedia list of "most common names by country" and used a bunch from the UK, USA and Japan. They had charts for first name and surname!
(Unsurprisingly the UK's most common surname is Smith.)
