Hello,
I was just curious, I heard somewhere that some regions maybe with more than one prefecture hold joint conferences sometimes. I was wondering if this is true and which prefectures do this?

CIR conferences or JET conferences in general?

I've only heard of Kansai doing it. Chubu definitely doesn't (why Chubu why)

I guess I meant conferences in general. But wow, only Kansai?

Hmm well the only other JET conferences I know of that aren't held by CLAIR are ALT SDCs, which in general I think are prefecture by prefecture. But maybe some do it together, I don't know. (Sorry, unhelpful.)

Thanks for your help anyway. I couldn't find anything on that anywhere.

Yeah, it would make way more sense for the Aichi JETs to go somewhere else for conferences.
Whether that's Silent Hill, Fork in the Road Mound, or Three Heavy

Okinawa used to have annual prefectural CIR conferences with their 担当者, but with budget cuts and diminishing number of CIRs I guess they stopped having them around 5-6 years ago :/

We have 16 CIRs in our prefecture alone, but we never meet up except at orientations.

I've decided I'm going to research the possibility of doing a joint conference with at least one other prefecture now that I know another place is able to do it.
Does anyone have any experience with anything like this?

In the case of the Kansai one I think it's just an agreement among all of the Kansai prefectures (there's no central coordinating body to my knowledge; the hosting prefecture rotates every year). That's been going on since the 90s IIRC so I don't know how it was set up or anything.

You'd have to convince multiple BOEs that it would be worth it, which includes sending out invites to all the 市町村, setting a budget, getting approval from higher ups, booking a venue (much harder than it sounds), planning a schedule that is useful for people from such a wide area and variety of situations...
Depending on where and what kind of conference you're thinking of, it could be done, but I'd recommend talking to PAs who plan SDC and other large-scale conferences first to get an idea of how feasible it is in your area.

Island Root has a CIR 研修 every year. But then again we do have 20 CIRs in this prefecture
