Hey everyone,
So I was looking through the 回覧 and the Mikan Land Prefectural Government decided to have its policy issue be a special edition about 国際交流 (OMG) and I read through about one of the towns in my prefecture holding a OB/OG 交流会 (or reunion). All of the participants were a part of the 派遣 to their sister city in Germany.
I was thinking that because it will be the 20th year of my sister city having an exchange, it might be a good idea to bring up a 交流会 for past participants.
Have any of you done anything like this?
I also haven't really done a 起案 yet (that isn't like a holiday-themed event) sooo...

I know CLAIR just did the SATOGAERI project so that might serve as a precedent.

Isn't the Satogaeri for past JET participants? Eh, more points to prove that it's successful...
I was thinking of having local Japanese meet up in town. I discovered that two of the new JTEs are past participants in the sister city exchange, for example. Kind of help with future networking and whatnot.

I think it sounds like a good idea. It reminds me of how whenever I come home from Japan and I have so many stories all the time and no one cares. So I bet they'd like to get together/meet more people that have been through what they've been through.
I can see something like that going over well here but since I'm not at the BOE I'm not too involved with a lot of the student exchanges which is lame...

Would that by Uchiko-cho by any chance?
I think that sounds like a good idea. We have not done anything like that per se around her, but we have the Japanese-German association that is basically taking care of this and since the city hall is the actual office for the association, everything passes through her.
How about proposing forming an international association if you do not have one already? That would be quite the feat and will probably take a while, but there are plenty of associations around to look for examples. But with such an association, it would be easier to coordinate meetings, like an annual meeting or something like a monthly evening meeting, just for simple talking (and drinking?).
