Any U.S. citizen CIRs planning to take the FSOT sometime in the near future? I'll be taking it in June 2017 and am currently studying for it. Would love the chance to trade ideas and info with any other test-takers, and organize study sessions depending on distance. Please let me know!

I haven't been planning on it but now that you mention it, I am kind of interested. How far ahead of time do you have to register?

I want to take it eventually! But I want to be a CIR for 3 years, so there's no rush.

Idk if y'all have any experience taking this test, but i would highly recommend taking the online practice test. They give you a percentage of how likely they think you are to take the test, and that will help you figure out what you need to study.
Especially because on the "job knowledge" portion, they can literally throw anything at you, from history to statistics to pop culture.

Reviving this old thread. I'm planning on taking the test in October, since it usually takes longer than a year to complete the whole process (and you have to wait a year between each test taking). Anyone want to study together?

good luck Cantamen ! i know this process is extremely demanding and takes quite a bit of time. do you have any system for how you're gonna study for the job knowledge portion?

Not really, just try to keep up with the news as much as I can. I took the online test and it said I had a 90% chance of passing or something, but that was without the bio or essay part. I think being in college at the moment might be helping with that though- it's keeping me up to date. Hopefully I won't forget everything other than Japanese by October, haha.
Hopefully I can go into it calm this though, since I'd like to be a CIR for a few years. It wouldn't be a big deal if it didn't work out, but since security clearances can drag if you've lived abroad, and the hiring freeze, I feel like I've got to take every chance I can, you know?

Do you mean during the FSOT? I don't know what order they do the parts in. But the PNQs are a different from the Bio and essay sections of the FSOT, if that's what you're asking.
