hi,
not strictly cir job related, but I'd appreciate any feedback from cir's who might have done any company translation/interpreting tests before.
bit of background, I've been in Japan for ages.. pretty long in the tooth, done Jet, done, working for Japanese companies, done running and selling my own english school etc... anyway, so I've just applied for a couple of local government jobs basically CIR type deals, but direct city contracts... contract=no bonus.. but whatever
anyway, the job I wanted, overseas finance promotion... I didn't get an interview.. pants... the other job was for a kokusaikouryu... basically CIR I guess minus the school visits... and I just got an interview...
It's like 15 minute interview, followed by 30 minute translation test, followed by 15 minute interpreting test...
My Japanese is decent enough, and I've done a translation thing like this for a prefecture tourism promo company a few years ago, and got the job, so I guess my Japanese can't be all that bad...
That said, I've got just under a week to prepare, so if anyone has done any translation/interpreting interview tests recently for a local government(city) job, I'd really appreciate hearing from you.
Its also Friday afternoon, and my current job is really boring ie I have nothing to do so thought I'd post here
