Hi all! There's a very CIR-like position available in Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture, with an August 1st startdate.
(This position was actually posted earlier on the CIR boards this year, but they weren't able to find anyone for an April start. I wanted to make sure this was seen, but if this breaks the forum rules, please feel free to move this to the previous thread!)
Contact info/salary/job info is at Hello Work:

A lot of the job is indeed similar to a CIR position - You would handle English social media accounts, Ichinoseki's English homepage, create other content in English, and help out other divisions like tourism/international/etc. But the majority would be working on whatever necessary translation/interpreting/guiding for the International Linear Collider project.
The ILC would be a huge, international particle physics experiment facility built in the southern mountains of Iwate Prefecture. Something on the scale of CERN and the Large Hadron Collider in Europe. The national government is set to make their decision on hosting the project soon, and local governments like Ichinoseki are looking to hire foreigners to help their cities get ready for an influx of new foreign residents. So while this job is quite similar to the CIR position, you'd also have the potential to stay for a long while and make yourself a vital part of something huge.
You do need to have JLPT N1, and be able to work legally in Japan (ie, aleady have a work visa or other applicable visa). However.... even if you don't have N1, I would try applying anyway. It's not like N1 has anything to do with particle physics knowledge, and anyway, 物理学Japanese can be learned on the job (take it from me).
What's crucial is being able to work in a Japanese government environment - which 100% of you already know how to do.
Application deadline is on June 30!
