Happy New Year's everyone, あけましておめでとうございます
I'm a 1st year CIR and long-story short, my CO has asked me not to re-contract as of a couple weeks ago.
Now I'm in an awkward position where I have to decide if I want to try and find a new job to stay in Japan or if I go back to the US to do who knows what.
From what I understand, being "asked" not to re-contract doesn't mean you can't SMACKDOWN to stay or transfer elsewhere, etc., but I don't think I want to continue this line of work.
So basically, I'm just wondering what to do in regards to looking at work in Japan/how that works... just in general, cause I don't really even know where to start.
I've asked some other people who have given me some things to look at in the mean time, but I guess I'm mainly wondering/concerned about:
-Where and how to look for jobs in like Tokyo, or perhaps Fukuoka(?), where ever is recommended I suppose
-How to look for new housing, how moving works, how difficult or not it is
-General advice with job-hunting and staying in Japan and anything to be careful of regarding the above and also in general
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I’m in pretty much the same situation, except that hey didn’t ask me to not re-contract butjsut total me that their budget is being slashed for the next fiscal year and they are removing my position start this August. Did your CO give you the option to transfer to become an ALT in the prefecture? If what you’re doing isn’t what you wanted.

Reveiller Marutaro everyone's still on their holidays but there is this giant thread about job and house hunting so in the meantime maybe you can read through the thread. cirhomepage.boards.net/thread/15/hunting-jerbs-housesthe first page has a compilation of some important stuff but the whole thread itself is useful. You're also better off asking questions there so people could easily see it.
