Matsushima (Miyagi), famous as one of the three most scenic spots of Japan 日本三景 has a position opening in June 2020 working in an innovative new facility by the bay. They are looking for English-speaking staff (though Chinese also considered) with Japanese language ability to directly give tourism information tourists at a new tourism info desk, but also more broadly help them with tourism strategy and execution. This facility intends to help transform tourism in this seaside town by supporting small local businesses in the area by serving as a gateway (arrange for experiential activities, arrange credit card payment for local shops, etc.)
The area has a high standard of living with affordable and fresh produce and seafood, 30 min. train access to Sendai, a city of 1 million with a compact center and strong universities, and a 1000 year history as a place of beauty and cultural refinement.
Salary is generous vs JET and commensurate with experience.
They prefer a 3 year commitment.
Start date is April 2020 or somewhat later (before it opens in June)
