Hi everyone, there's an opening for a native English speaker on a certain research institute's ad.ministrative document translation/editing team of which a certain shining, shimmering, splendid person may or may not currently be a member (and who therefore may or may not be happy to answer PMs regarding this post). If you know anyone else who may be interested, please let them know!
Because of forum cen.sors, please remove the ~ in between the "ad" and "min" of the links below!

Job ad (Jpn): www.riken.jp/careers/ad~min/20191219/index.html
Q: What does this job entail?
A: Three main things, with the very, very occasional odd job:
- Translating ad.ministrative documents from Japanese to English
- Editing English documents and providing native checks
- Writing articles in English for the in-house newsletter
Q: What's the catch?
A: This position is 30 hr/week and therefore part time, but here's some additional info that I think is important for applicants to know:
- 副業 is OK (as in, you can be a freelance translator or whatever else in the rest of your time/outside of this work)
- Excellent vacation policy: 20 days of PTO/年休 + other limited-time holidays (i.e. 夏季休暇)
- You SHOULD be able to renew your status of residence with this position
- This position MAYBE, I emphasize MAYBE, be able to be turned full-time after a year (no guarantees/sadly the budget is not that predictable OTL)
- The other catch: a certain sparkly person does not actually know what the salary would be but would predict it to be relatively low
- This is mentioned in the job posting, but you will be enrolled in welfare programs like health insurance and the pension system, and there is commuting allowance
- Also written in the job posting but just in case: the application is mostly in English but must be submitted via physical mail, so the real deadline considering the time it would take the application packet to arrive is more like Feb 3 at the latest
Thanks for reading and, again, please spread the word if you know of anyone who might be interested!
