I noticed that many JETs got their placements. I just wanted to make this thread (like in past years) to see where others have been placed!
I made the decision to defer, but it would be cool to see where others get placed in the meantime.

I got placed in Sagamihara-shi,Kanagawa-ken. The city is 1hr train ride away from central Tokyo so I’m not complaining. But after looking around it seems that there isn’t any Jet community in kanagawa since there are so few jets in the prefecture. Apparently there was exactly 1 Jet in Sagamihara in 2019, so I’m assuming i will replace him next January.

plumrock that's cool! I'm way up in rock hand, but because my city was damaged by the tsunami in 2011, we've had dispatch workers from other city halls come to my city throughout the years for extra support. I made f.riends with a couple staff from Sagamihara city hall who were dispatched to my city hall in previous years, and now they're back working at Sagamihara city hall. If you're interested I could ask them if it's okay to put you in contact with them.

It would be awesome to contact my predecessors ahead of time! Really appreciate the hook up! Let me know if you need my contact info or anything else!

Got placed in Kosaka, Akita-ken. Honestly really surprised at how such a rural place needs a CIR. Are there any fellow Akita CIRs on this forum?

zaza Hi! I love Akita--I'm a CIR in rock hand, and I've visited Kosaka before too. I'm sure your pred will reach out to you soon with information about your town-to-be I hope you like onsen because Akita has some of the best onsen in Japan. The nature and mountains in Akita are also breathtaking; so it's a super nice area for hiking if you're into that.

*waits for someone to announce that they will be placed in SHIKOK I'll be in SHIKOK! I got Ikata, Mikan Land Hi Korokke - I was notified by some members of the board that you posted here. I’m your super predecessor (not the one who just left) and there is another member on this forum who was my predecessor (or your “super super pred”) hue. Like grandparents. Ikata is a cute town - very different for some CIR placements considering its location and why it has CIRs there (sister city relationship). Feel free to message me if you want to get connected (as well as with your predecessor). I’ve also visited the town twice since I’ve left Japan - so I can say it’s a place dear to my heart.

I just received my placement. I will be going to Motomiya-shi in Fukushima Prefecture. As expected, it's a placement completely unlike the preferences I put down. I don't really know anything about it though or how the CIR/ALT community is there though, so I would be really interested to hear anything from someone who knows the area a bit!

I hear that people in Kyoto-fu are only getting results letting them know they will be in Kyoto-fu?
Everyone else seems to know what town they are going to be in.

Everyone on reddit and facebook who is going to Kyoto-fu has not been told what city they will be in. But they will not be working for the prefecture and the fucho It's a common misconception that -ken placements automatically mean Prefectural Office (kencho) for a CIR. It can mean that they are working for the International Association (国際化協会) for the prefecture, for example. And for ALTs, -ken is a placement that happens for mostly senior high school or specialty school placements. Sometimes they do not know their exact town or base school until even a week before departure (I have hulemdos who experienced this).

I was kinda bummed out when I found i will be the only Jet in my city lmaoo It depends!! I've been close with CIRs in my town (one went home several months after I arrived and was not replaced) and then when a nearby town got their first CIR we instantly made sure to reach out to him. He's part of our big region group too. I'm also tight with most of the ALTs here, but at the same time I'm the type to just keep to myself or my coworker hulemdos. Also I have a cat so I don't need people tbh EDIT: LEVEL UPPPP

Any CIRs here with this kind of experience? omg that is very cool! I did my undergrad study abroad thesis on bonsai so I've been a number of times and it's a really cool museum from a visitor's perspective! Really nice location as well
