i have been told that we should get info about my successor "by the end of May" so my guess is that you will probably have to wait until early to mid June for placement info this guess still stands for you incomers :/
in other news, the JET tanto got my successors INFO[soup]TM [/soup]
and its for jet tanto eyes only so i dont get to see it.... yet
i do believe however that i have found my person on fb but obvs have not added them... yet

Officially delayed till August 21st with no news of placement yet :/ im going to say what i mentioned to an incoming ALT pal of mine who also got the same news
its not bc of the program: it might be flight availability. there's still a limit on arrivals here in japan even tho the cap got raised, and bringing a lot of people as soon as possible is going to be difficult to maneuver. we want our incoming people here as quickly as we can. as long as you can come during the summer, it should be no problem, so there's nothing too big to worry about.
i was one of the ones last year who didnt even know my departure date when i got my placement which was its own special kind of hell :/// (luckily it only took about two months from placements being released to my departure date, and i think that should be the normal thing that the senpai have experienced)

I heard something similar from an ex-ALT hulemdo, that from my country they previously used routes that crossed Russia or something to that effect and because of The Situation (TM) they have to figure out a cost-effective route + reckon the daily entry limits on the Japan side. At least for us, our consulate haven't officially communicated delays just yet though I imagine that'll come in the next little while, maybe even today. I go from feeling like "this is fine, I am zen, it will come" to being totally rabid for information lmao CLAIR, you're bringing out my crazy

Hey guys, just another applicant barging into the conversation. I was told that I should be starting at the beginning of August, but I haven't received any official notices regarding my departure, employment, etc. So it seems this year's placements are going to be delayed for a lot of people (judging from the thread). I was starting to get nervous as with only two months left, the whole visa and relocation process seems hardly feasible.. Just hoping that it's just a simple delay and nothing more serious hue.

Nice to meet you! If you don't mind me asking, where in the world are you applying from? A few consulates have recieved official notice that their departures have been delayed to the 14th~27th of August though many consulates have not recieved any information as of yet. Soooo, that amounts to all of us being in the same boat!! ahah Don't worry, I don't think this will be a situation like it was in the last 2 years where departure was delayed significantly.

Thank you for your response. That would make sense. I guess my consulate still hasn't got any further information. I'm a European applicant btw.

Hi! First post here ^^ I'm from the US and just got placed in Niigata-shi! I've lived in Nagano and visited the beach at Joetsu once but that's the only experience I have of Niigata. I'm just relieved it looks like I won't be somewhere rural.

Hello! First post as well. I'm from the US and I just got assigned to Fukuoka-ken! I studied abroad in the Kansai area and was hoping to get placed there, but I'm excited to be in Kyushu!
I saw that Fukuoka prefectural CIRs are a little different maybe from this forum? Any information would be appreciated!
Excited to be going!

Have you found much info on it? yo that sounds so cool! I am v jealous. My CO is 壱岐市 so I'm assuming I'm going to be on Iki island. It's about 1-2 hours by ferry to Fukuoka. I've been researching all day but it mostly seems to be known as a beach spot so I'm kinda unsure about what sort of work I'll be doing. Honestly I'm kind of nervous now hue

I can't wait to find out what Niigata is like! My placement just said 新潟市、新潟市 so I'm assuming I'll be in the city office.
