Hey guys, if any of you have suggestions for things to do to improve the forums, ideas for new subjects and sections, or any pressing problems you're having that you'd like to solve, just write them down here.
As of now, I'm thinking of trying to hide the little gender sign that shows up for everyone. It just seems like a good recipe for creepiness in the future.

that only shows up (afaik) if you willingly enter it into your profile info

Did you have the choice to not put in your gender when signing up though? I can't remember.
People can turn it off themselves but it is kind of a pain so if it's possible to hide them all that might be nice.

You can hide the info yourself, but I think just making it hidden for everyone is the best move. that way when new folks register we dont have to explain things every time.

Do it, Starlord sven. (That was the first setting I turned off. I was like "um NO.") Not to mention if we ever have a nonbinary CIR and/or a CIR otherwise not interested in being forced to choose between M/F on here things would be easier for them.
Maybe, for the technologically impaired (myself sometimes included in this category), we could have a sticky thread somewhere with a q&a or settings tips for new users? Mods would have to make sure it stays on topic, though, so that someone new could just read through the info quickly and it would all be relevant.

Sparkles, I really like the idea of a Q&A or "how-to forum real good" thread.
It seems like finding new posts, changing your id, and avoiding the spam from the site are the big things. We can then add more if people get confused on stuff.

yeah sven! also, how to look for relevant stuff? like using the search bar so that relevant threads will pop-out. I can never seem to find stuff I'm looking for when i was in the old forums.

can we have more posts per page? 15 posts per page is abysmal
pop that up to like, at the very least 20, but 30 is also good too i think

It just occurred to me - the General board is hidden to the public, but maybe we should make at least the Future CIRs one visible? Because otherwise people might try and make threads in one of the work-related boards.
Also is there a way to let people know that there's more content if they make a username? Or do we not want to advertise that? I feel like people might just see it's all work-related and decide it's not worth joining.

Future CIR edit is done. Its now part of a future and past thingy. But what really matters is the present.

Dear Eternal Overlord,
Is there any way you can make it so we can tag each other using our usernames and not the names we used when registering for the forums? I know it isn't that big of a deal, but checking the members list to tag is kind of めんどくさい >_> or maybe I'm just lazy.
If not then I'll just continue to be lazy.

I like the idea of a "how to forum good" thread because I still don't understand how to embed an image or a gif, or how to quote multiple times in one post without it taking forever.

Oh.

What category/board should the how to forum good thread be on, though...? Should it be visible before you've signed up or no?

The "first year" for one stars is extremely confusing. I really think they are first years. Can we change that? It'll also be nice to include a function where we can see whether members are first-fifth years or alumni or private CIRs or something? Or is that invading too much on our privacies? Because it'd be good to have perspective when asking for advice etc. (without having to muddle through old threads etc) this is because at the present moment, everyone is new so its hard to tell senpais and newbies (like myself) apart. just my 2 yen.

I agree with this. New members will probably be pretty confused to see "1st year" when it doesn't actually correspond to that at all. On the old forums you could indicate if you were a past/present/aspiring CIR in your profile, but people only saw it if they went out of their way click your profile. It might be cool to have that sort of info underneath avatars or something. Totally optional of course.

I've added a little something that people can add their CIR experience to. If you fill it in, it should show up on all your posts.
I suppose I can change first year to something else as well.

Why can we only quote two users at a time? When it gets to the third person the original quote just disappears. Whyyyyyyyy.

Did you ever get around to seeing if you could backup the old forums? Though I'm mostly ambivalent at this point and I think I may have been the only one who cared.
