hi there im a relatively new member, so perhaps im just not used to this, but is it possible to have an option to disable the cheeky huleezu function? i understand privacy concerns surrounding the forum, but i also would like to be able to read and type messages without having to undergo some mental gymnastics to understand whats being said. it might just be me, but i feel a little alienated as well because once the function kicks in, i feel like half the changes it makes becomes incomprehensible That option isn't possible (and some people just type them by now), but there's a dictionary here.

Maybe there's another way to get around this, so if there is feel free to let me know. In the top right theres a button for 'Participated' which turns to 'NEW Participated' if someone writes something in that same thread. Maybe not all can relate, but being someone that needs to check off every "you got mail!" notifications on the phone like with LINE, messenger, etc. I was hoping if its possible to delete the tracking on a specific thread? in that 'Participated' option.
Hope that made sense.. (≧へ≦)

1- In your user profile, click on edit, then go to the Settings tab and select the "No" radio button for the first option. (I tried it and am not entirely sure what it does, though)
2- At the bottom of the page, in the Forum Information and Statistics block, there's a "Mark all Boards as read" link. It will remove the "New" marker for all the threads.

Thanks Ayagator for the response! No worries! It's not life threatening to a point where I need turn off all the notifications hue Just thought that if there is a way to solve it I'll give it a go, but if not I can live with it. Thanks any ways!

sorry to bring up this conversation again (especially late in the day) but i think its time to re-rethink ce.nsors again?
like, before, i could be wrong but i feel like most people came here by being introduced so they could be warned about the censo.rs
this forum is already experiencing a want for new people but the censo.rs themselves confuse/push people away?
its been fun but i feel bad when new people get tripped up/confused by a long-standing cen.sor (a word that itself is cen.sored)
i 100% think we should still come up with forum jokes and new censo.rs but i think they should stay as self-cen.sors (treated like a lot of CHIRP-GO) so the inside joke remains but a new person isnt alienated because their post got rewritten.
people both new and old. please discussing

They don't personally make me feel alienated, but I'll admit a lot of them are kinda impossible to figure out in context. And honestly, I don't remember what I originally typed so when I see the cen.sored version I still can't piece together the meanings haha
Also, are all of them typed up somewhere to reference? I tried looking through the post with the CHIRP-Go words listed (are those different than cen.sored words? The cheeky phrases or whatever?) but I don't think all of them are listed in one single comment, more like scattered throughout aaaaall of the pages in that thread, so it's still hard trying to figure them out

when i first joined, it was a fun puzzle to figure out what all the words were. it was only the few words created by people who weren't active anymore that were difficult and maybe a bit alienating. i agree that if we're going to keep them, it'd be good to have a pinned post where it's easy to figure out what they are.
cen.sors are so ingrained in the culture of chirp, but most of the time, i type them out now xD

As a new member, I can testify, this was pretty disturbing and hard to get into.
As usamaru said, it can be a fun puzzle if you're into it, but it can also feel like a really hard to enter close circle.
There is that one post about chirp-go but it is far from exhaustive. I can understand some changes to get by browser's filtering system, like hulemdo (even tho I honestly spent a long time trying to figure it out (it's tomodatch' for future people stumbling upon this post) but other just seem completely arbitrary like "The one ... to rule them all". Why would we need a replacement when the original word CLAIRly appears in it? I felt like it just made it wordy for no reason.
There are still a few words like TG, BB which I've seen, and (think I) get a sense of their meaning, but I don't have the faintest idea what these letters stand for.
I'd be very grateful if there were one place where all these words were referenced and explained, because the actual one is far from being exhaustive, and it is hard to fit in when everyone is speaking in cryptic ways.
I can't really talk about the automatic replacement as I've been lucky enough to not be subject to it (yet).

I personally don't care either way, so I'll just change them according to the consensus. I like them because I like word games, but I'm not overly attached.
That being said, a lot of the stuff is self-censo.rship and will not be affected.

I can't really talk about the automatic replacement as I've been lucky enough to not be subject to it (yet). we dont use peoples names on here when we can, especially not our own so we give nicknames to people in our lives (partners, coworkers, etc) but those nicknames are often easily abbreviated. it does happen in a process and not suddenly so if you are here when it happens it makes sense. that said, even long standing people missed or forgot the establishment of TG. they knew who i was referring to but not what it stood for (for example)
in this case, TG is my husband, Tattoo Guy, and BB is Baby Bear, Dee's kid
(before this convo moves, i'll say this here)
i personally now am of the mind that we should get rid of censo.rs except for as they are needed or for short term fun but we should definitely keep up our tradition of making cheeky phrases and selfcheeky huleezuing which we do half the time anyways.
like, hue was fun but it reads different from lo.l ya know?
