So exciting to see everyone's placements!! I got 長野県、長野市 and I'm so excited to live and work in such a beautiful, mountainous place!
I honestly don't know too much about the region but I am excited to live & learn there~
Congrats to everyone!

My placement is miyagi-ken ishinomaki-shi!! It's been a full day but I'm still having trouble accepting this is real. Miyagi was my first choice and ishinomaki was the exact city I had in mind when I picked it. I have a bunch of hulemdos living there and wrote about the city's recovery from the tsunami for a research project in one of my Japanese classes. It's probably just dumb luck but I'm thoroughly spooked because I never mentioned it anywhere in my application. And now I'm 100x more excited for August! That's awesome!! I'm about a 1.5 hour drive north from Ishinomaki in rock hand. I actually go to Ishinomaki kind of often when I do shopping because it's the closest place with large shops to me, heheh. I'm so excited they are getting a CIR! Looking forward to meeting you! :)

currycat acouplefruits omg hi <3
Welcome to Sudachi Land!! I imagine both of you could be 県庁 because I know 2 people are leaving from there this year. (one American and one German)
I personally work in the Sudachi Land City Hall office, and as I wasn't told we would be hiring more CIRs (and I doubt it because budget), if you're in the City, I imagine you're in the 県庁! Congrats!
Please don't hesitate to message me about anything! I'm sure I will see you both the days you arrive so I look forward to meeting you! <3
(also I don't have a car and I still manage just fine!)

Still waiting for UK placements with nervous excitement! I've heard that placements went out last year via post but I'm in Japan so I hope it doesn't get sent to my British home address. Any UK vets here to share their experience on the placements?

bobo343 you're not alone! Exciting times, especially because we have no idea where we'll end up living for at least the next year of our lives!

Any UK vets here to share their experience on the placements? I'm from the UK and I got mine by email last year, I got the info and welcome letter from my city's mayor after that by post, but the placement notification was by email, and then after that my CO contacted me by email as well.
I didn't get my placement til June but I'm pretty sure that's just 'cause I was a reserve/waitlisted ^^;;;

(I'm not there but I've been there and it was nice and quiet and my hulemdo and I went up to Mt. Koya the sacred buddhist mountain)

Mumblesnore ...wow. To be fair though the roads keep getting better and much more of the highway has opened this year, which made travel times better than before, both going south and north. You should come back and visit the area sometime~ (if you haven't since leaving JET yet)

Looks like I'm going to be prefectural in Bear Origin-ken. I've never been there before but it looks really pretty so I'm excited! Any potential hulemdos in the area?

I'm in the prefecture to the north-east of you, Oita-ken! I've yet to go to Bear Origin-ken but from what I've seen it looks really nice! Oita-ken has some interesting places too if you ever want to visit ^^

imashikanai I'm not in Nara, but I'm maybe an hour away. You'll see very soon how small Kansai is, haha Merry-Gaijin One of my hulemdos back in The Old Country was placed in Bear Origin and stayed the whole 5 years, so something tells me it's a really good placement, place-wise!

Matsudo shi, Chiba ken! Exactly where I wanted! First preference, and the CO was the one my university kouhai worked. She talked about her experience during the information session and that was one of the main reasons why I put Chiba. Couldn’t be happier.

Incoming Aussie CIR heading to Chikujo-machi, Fukuoka-ken Ah, another person heading to Kyushu! I'm in nearby (well, 2 hours by express train) Oita-ken (Beppu-shi) but I loved Fukuoka when I visited there so I hope you like it too! ^^
