I wrote them in English first then (as I only had one week left in the country) I google translated them and passed them off to my colleagues with a massive grin on my face
then the newbie KOUMUIN had to go through and correct the Japanese
it was funny for me
not so much for them
ANYWAY, they were all signed off by the KACHO of the BOE's Shido-ka because he's the guy who signed their employment agreements so technically their employer/ultimate soup. However, I know some ALTs used their JTE who wrote them references in English (which they themselves probably proof read).
Once ours were signed off we offered the JETs paper copies in English and Japanese (gave them 5 or so signed copies) and then kept it on record so that if the BOE had a reference requested then they could just whip it out of the folder and pass it on.

Yo peeps!
I was wondering about something. One of the peeps here was posting some stuff on social media that rang some alarm bells. Today I wanted to punch everyone, incluing kids, Today I wanted to flip everyone off etc. etc.
Now I red flagged it in my head but out our recent meeting with our Regional PAs/Block Leaders whatever you want to call them, his one said that he had brought it up with the guy who said to stop woudl be an infringement on his freedom of speech etc. etc.
Now, Im not about policiing people's freedom of speech but in the past someone here who was doing the same thing was sent an e-mail from the Consulate in their home country stating if they did not desist they may be fired.
Should I just be like yo dude, freedom of speech is really cool and Im not your Dad but this happened before so just heads up?
I want to keep it casual.......

I remember asking about "outreach" at a PA conference in the past, and got the advice to handle it like, "I saw you posted XX on social media, I just wanted to check in and make sure everything was OK/let you know you can talk to me whenever" and tread carefully if you think they might see it as an invasion of privacy.
But JETs have gotten into trouble for posting on social media during work hours and posting inappropriate stuff about work, so there is precedent for that as well. It's probably in everyone's contract that they can't "漏らす the 秘密 they learned at work" and to "act appropriately befitting 公務員" so they might not see it as a question of freedom of speech but as a question of is it appropriate for a 公務員/teacher to talk about punching kids on social media.
I think especially if there is precedent in your pref. you could be like hey, just letting you know you might want to change the privacy settings on certain posts because this happened in the past. That way it's not "don't say it" but "be careful who you say it to."

I probably asked this same question last year but what's the dress code? I don't have to wear a suit do I?
I'm 太ってる from Golden Week and I don't want to wear the suit jacket less-太っている popchyk bought before she moved to Oita, not foreseeing her future all-castella-all-the-time Golden Week diet.

I really hope we don't have to do the suit thing because I still need to dry-clean them and I'm not exactly rolling around in all-the-dough right now....

I believe the dress code is "business", I don't think it's "cool biz" but because people are coming from all over I don't think "Tokyo biz" will be enforced. If you're nervous you could wear a dark sweater (and probably take it off halfway through and be fine ;)) Edit: for reference I will be wearing non-suit dresses/skirts, probably with a blazer
I will also be presenting and I swear to god if I see you live LINEing it I will call you out by name

I think I'll probably leave my suit-jacket and blazer at home (or pack it in my suitcase but not wear it). Come to think of it, I remember Freighnos wore a kariyushi last year. ...I probably should do laundry though as I haven't got very many clean clothes left hue.

I'll probably wear whatever I'd wear to work (business casual ish) plus a blazer on top. I really hope I don't fall asleep
Good luck to those of you presenting!

Just filled in the information exchange sheet.
It was interesting, because Oita recently had some big earthquakes I actually had opinions and things to write about.

What information exchange sheet? I always feel like I find out about these things last minute........ Our supervisor handed us an excel sheet to fill in that explains what the PAs do and then it has a lot of questions about the PAs' role regarding disaster preparedness and response. Maybe you already filled it in and we're the ones who are late, or maybe your JPA filled it in for you How JPA is new so it makes more sense for us PAs to fill it in.

I feel like I should be going to the 中途退職 one too but I also feel like my JPA will be going to that one (because he can only go to the Japanese one) and I don't really want to be in the same room as hi----- I mean, I should probably be attending a different one for the sake of information gathering.

G-Rex It's almost as if Kyoto isn't the all-consuming paradise of WA that they were expecting and many ALTs can't deal with the harsh reality that it is just a place like any other...

re: information exchange sheets lollll my soup asked me what these were for today and I was just like "I dunno but I haven't heard anything about them so it's probably OK if we just fill them out the day of, right?"
So uh
Yeah
Gonna go with that.

I'm really curious if they're going to address the "I got a job in April" situation and I have no idea what to do about that kind of situation. "No pls don't get a job"..... I dunno if this helps, but the current PAs in my prefecture have talked to me a lot about these types of situations recently (for training purposes, not because they're geoducks), and it seems like the main role of the PA is to ensure the person who got a job (or w/e) is communicating well with their CO (about timelines, expectations, etc.), as well as doing everything that's within their power to lessen the impact on the CO (like getting a spring JET, or whatever the CO says they need).
Most COs are pretty understanding because a) people who get spring jobs have usually already been around for a few years and b) spring is job-time so it's unavoidable to some extent and not worth getting annoyed over. Bonus points if the JET gets a job locally; COs are apparently really chill about that.
Maybe I'll see some of you at the conf I'm nervous but excited about being responsible for other humans next year.

Hey, can someone who's JPA is coming ask them to grab an extra copy of handouts etc for presentations they attend for me to give to my JPA who becamed cannot go? I think my JPA is only going for the first day, but if that would be helpful I can ask and I don't suppose she would mind (she's very lovely). Also shachou's successor and I will be presenting in the workshop (about housing) twice because they didn't have enough people(?) pls come and make occasional eye contact for moral support and ask questions (it is apparently q&a focused)
