Do you know what time the conference starts? I'm trying to figure out if I need to get there the night before or if the day of is fine. If day of I have more non-例のあのホテル options like Hotel Franks (stayed there last year, it was fine and similar in price to 例のあのホテル.)

In previous years CIRs have been asked to check in between 13:15 and 14:00, with the opening ceremony beginning at 14:15. I imagine the vast majority of CIRs make it out day of.
EDIT: I don't actually know if the schedule for this year has been announced yet (I don't think it has), but I imagine it will be similar.

Thank you! Okay, if it's that late it's pretty easy for me to make it the day of. I appreciate it. Or I could go early and take myself to Disney.

If lots of people take that Tuesday off we could totally do a CIRHP at Disney day! There are also a fair amount of people who do the after-6 thing and go after the conference ends on the first or second day (it's also cheaper), but there is also the CIRHP meetup at Irish pub Always, so.

I'm pretty stoked I can be there for the whole three days this year instead of fly in for the second and third day only, because it's not overlapped with the Hokkaido SDC like last year YAAAAAAAAAAAY

Yeah I hope all the fourth-years (myself included) are allowed to come! The only reason I could see for not letting people go is budget reasons and while that would be a very good reason for my CO not to let me go luckily Mid-Year Chaos costs them almost nothing. I'm fine with Wednesday! I think we generally go with the first night anyway.

I wasn't sure if it was something we pay for or our CO does so I talked to my soup (who didn't know what I was talking about so I got scared), and there is a quite generous 予算. I reserved at the 東京ベイ幕張 woo so excited!

I reserved at the 東京ベイ幕張 woo so excited! It's... not a great system. We get paid a fixed amount per night (let's say 9,000 yen) for every business trip that has us stay overnight somewhere. That amount does not change no matter where you stay, so most people just slum it in a cheap business hotel somewhere and pocket the difference. Tax payer money, y'all.

some places require receipts and stuff, so make sure to check how to book and what the conditions for you getting your money back are!

Nothing about this has been mentioned in my office yet, by supervisor or any of the other 4 CIRs.. to be fair it is still a long way off. and i dont think clair has actually sent the official notice yet (or at least, we dont have it at my office.) for some reason CIRHP always gets really excited about it way in advance. also, most ppl try to stay at the makuhari because the conference in that building, so you dont have to SMACKDOWN an icy gale in the morning when youre going to the seminars. if you leave it too late, the hotel wont have any rooms left, but its not that big of a deal if youre at another place.

....
Sometimes they have interesting speakers? Like the guy from Timeout Tokyo or wherever that I couldn't get into last time. Also once there was a workshop about working in teams or something (I don't remember) and it made me appreciate/understand how the office works.
My first and second years though I think I found it informative, at least! I think it's especially helpful for people who became CIRs from ALTs or who don't have prefectural CIR training (we don't have enough to do that).

I guess whether its interesting or not really doesn't matter tbh, it's a free trip to tokyo and get to meet/hang out with loads of people

I would only do Disneyland if it were a whole day affair (i.e. that Monday holiday or taking off on Tuesday or something) anyway.
I don't know if that poor bar could handle us two nights in a row, haha.
