Oh thank you! Don't know if it's Baader-Meinhof, but I was wondering about this yesterday, hehe

Ooh! I am definitely interested! Especially to get some experience at a different genre of translation than I usually get to do at work.
Does submitting something for a translation contest with prize-money violate our JET contracts...? It's super unlikely that I'd get anything but I guess I'm a little anxious as to whether it'd be okay. I'd be totally up for just donating the prize money straight to a charity in the event that I did win though since I'm really just interested in doing it for the experience.
Guess I can deal with that issue afterwards, if it comes up

The 2018 Kurodahan winner was a CIRHPer so there's some precedent!

That said, she's super legit. A real life professional. You sure she was part of this forum??? hue

I was thinking this year's info was gonna be in English rather than just the about section, but interesting~ are the red words on the English about page supposed to be links? 'Cause they...aren't on my browser ^^;;;

One potential tip if you're hesitant but interested in jumping into translation contests—collaborating on a submission! Kurodahan doesn't have a restriction for that (a hulemdo and I confirmed with the organizer last year and we ended up submitting a joint entry). It can make the process a bit less intimidating and more rewarding, and discussing different interpretations of the text/ways to express things in English can be beneficial to all.

Ohh I see, well I guess the contest hasn't technically started yet and is still just over a month away so that's fair

That second one looks cool. Read a few lines and it seems relatively easy to translate? I always get myself worked up to do these and then doubt myself before I even start...

we could also do this during work hours ehehe IDK thooo. The text we're translating is in JPN so it's harder to hide what we're doing.

Ah, I actually have secondary work to do, so I'm technically busy during work hours (though you wouldn't know it with the amount of time I spend here, on discord and on FB...)

I just read through the Kurodahan 冬のアブラゼミ short story. It's seems so normal but has a twist ending. If I can remember to do it I might try to submit this year

So... I have pretty much given up on #2 because it was too long and I started on it too late, but I've just submitted the Kurodahan. How's everyone else doing? Deadline's in half a month...
