In my case 協力 (aka "International Cooperation") is mostly providing support/training for infrastructure related things like waterworks, waste management etc.

国際協力 is a separate department, and I didn't know how it differed from 国際連携/交流 before I started working here, so I'm wondering if it's more specific to my city or if I was just ignorant.

Well I can't complain cause in the end I never offered any concrete name ideas, but now the discount started and they ended up deciding on

so im translating another stork thing and were discussing how artificial wetlands were built in the area. but the japanese insists on using the word "biotope" and even the plural of "biotopeS were created"

to me, that doesnt make any sense. because my idea of the word "biotope" is that its synonymous to "habitat" only on a more biological level. like....you cant have MULTIPLE habitats in one place. its just the one habitat; aka the place where all the flora and fauna live. so im arguing that the english should just be changed into "man-made wetlands were created" because then youre describing what ACTUALLY happened. yes the habitat was changed as a result, but imho people cannot construct a habitat/biotope?? i feel like that just...happens. sure you can dig holes and terraform and do whatever, but having animals and plants come grow and live there isnt something that you necessarily decide, its just what nature does. so its wigging me out to use biotope and especially a plural "biotopes" in this case.

this is exactly how i feel about the word habitat! so then saying habitaTS or biotopES plural is still weird though, right? like unless you live in russia and because its sooo big there wetlands and the steppe and the tundra in different parts of the country, you cant refer to one city in japan having multiple habitats can you?

I would say you can have more than one habitat in a particular area... like my town has ocean, valley, and mountain habitats that support different flora/fauna. If you're only talking about the habitat of the storks tho, I would think that would be just 1 habitat
