I have another question for the senpais. I assume this is probably a problem others have come across before 便利でお得なICカード I have no idea what to do with the お得な and have been staring at it for 10 minutes ;_; super late but what's the greater context? what korokke said should work tho The thing is that when saying the card is お得, it is not the card itself but the fact that you can get points with it. So I feel like good deal or affordable wouldn't work? Maybe I'll go with good value. Thank you!

It's like majorly sucking up to someone and I think it can either be the person or the action? you can also mime it by grinding your fist into the palm of your hand hue

I'm doing an EN version of someone's 身体障害者手帳. Can I call that a Physical Disability Record Book? Does that even make sense in EN? In the smallest box ever, it also says: 身体障害者等級表による級別, which I'm thinking of writing either: A) Severity of Disability In Accrodance With the Physical Disabilities Classification Chart (which will never fit in this stupid small box) or B) Level of Disability (as the thing that comes in the next box is the person's 級) for reference, this is the chart it's refering to (I think): www.mhlw.go.jp/bunya/shougaihoken/shougaishatechou/dl/toukyu.pdf

How would you guys translate 立ち寄り温泉? I'm redoing an English tourism pamphlet of questionable quality and they have it as a "list of one day hot springs". I feel that the meaning is not super clear but I can't think of a succinct translation

I like “quick-stop” for something like ashiyu! I usually see “day trip hot springs” for larger facilities. I need opinions on this sentence. Do you find this confusing/odd? “The poster was visited by researchers exploring a diverse set of organisms, experimental techniques, and computational tools.”
Like…does this sound like experimental techniques and computational tools visited the poster? I think need to do something with “researchers exploring”…

I feel like structurally it would be: "The poster was visited by researchers [who were] VERBing 1, VERBing 2, and VERBing3." but having only 1 verb (exploring) paired with just the 2 nouns makes it weird

I’m starting to think the mixed plurals are also throwing off the list…I’ll play around with verbs and plurals

I think it sounds fine, and no English person would think that I'm more bothered by people "visiting" a poster

I didn’t even think about the oddness of “visiting a poster” as I was checking… Fwiw it was about a research poster presentation and considering the logistics of those I thought it was a fine way to describe it, but I’ll have to look into that

In one of my translations, I wrote "please bare with me" instead of "please bear with me" and one of my coworkers asked me what the difference is Obviously Im just wrong and I need a proofreader but I dont want to seem super incompetent so Im kind of tempted to just say its a dialect thing.

Hey guys! I’m doing an article translation about the Mongolian Invasions at work this morning and I’m not sure what a good translation for XX-sama would be in this case... ここは古くから壱岐の人々に「ショウニイ様」と呼ばれ. The context of the sentence is describing a military leader that died during the invasion that is now enshrined at one of the shrines on the island. Normally I feel like lord XX or something along those lines is sufficient but I don’t feel like it captures the kind of spiritual reverence in this case? どう思う?
