Hey folks! What a coincidence, I'm having a dilemma with translating department names with 推進 as well. There has been an increase in 推進 related departments/sections. What they have done in many instances before is simply referring to it as a "promotion" unit. But this makes it sound like a 広報 department instead...and many of them aren't PR departments. For example, for 国際連携推進担当, do you think International Cooperation Initiatives Office/Advancement Office is a good alternative? Let me know what you folks have done in the past. Thanks in advance! idk, recently I feel like although 推進 isnt primarily doing 広報 things, the existence of the department is in a way promoting itself by being proactive in that particular field. But i do like the sound of "Initiatives" and I feel Japanese people are pretty familiar with that word too. I don't know about you but in my parts, especially with department names, they tend to try to stick with what they already have unless its totally wrong. Probably because they rarely use it, and part because its a hassel to fix, but mostly because other departments around them have the said translation. Thank you very much for your comment! Yeah, I'm mostly leaving the existing department translations alone, only the newly established ones will get a new translation =)

A lot of times, I just drop that word completely, so I think you could get away with International Cooperation Office if that works with their mandate description

When I worked at Aichi and office names all included the word 推進 a billion times, the uber pro honyak tanto who worked with me always said "you don't need to translate promotion in these office names. The fact that they will be promoting stuff is 当たり前"

Im translating a speech and there is an instance of にあたり that Im not sure what to do with.
さよなら会にあたり、訪問団を代表して一言ご挨拶を申し上げます。 ?????, I would like to say a word on behalf of our delegation
I feel like "to mark this farewell party" is a bit off? But maybe its ok??

It is me again looking for more opinions again.
姉妹都市委員会やホストファミリーの皆様方と親しく懇談する機会をいただき、団員一同、大変感激しています every single one of the members of our delegation is extremely moved to have had this opportunity to 親しく懇談する with the Sister Cities Committee, the host families
I am very tempted to use "to get to know/""to get acquainted with" but is that too iyak? "have a close chat" or something seems a bit too informal and unnatural

Cross posting from Discord in case anyone here is great with translating slogans
The original is: Tall Cape空中散歩
Gyosha translation: A walk in the air in Tall Cape. Let us take a look at the city you are in now from the sky.
Context: there will be a drone recording aerial scenes of the city, to make you feel like you're immersed and flying through the city from above
I got permission to change it into something more natural.
"a bird's eye view" is the only expression right, not like "a bird's eye adventure" through the city, or something like that

I bring another question to the forums
申込書や添付書類に不足や不備(記載漏れ、証明日漏れ、修正インクによる訂正など)がある場合は、受理できません。全ての書類をそろえてご提出ください。
Anyone know what 証明日漏れ means and how to translate it? Missing certification date doesn't really make sense in my brain?

自然の滋味に心を添えて、自然に恵まれたこの地の山野の幸をご賞味下さい。
I have stared at this sentence for the longest time now, and while I can conceptualize what it is conveying, I have zero ideas regarding how to make this wakariyasui in English.
For context, this is from a web page promoting a Japanese restaurant which promotes its cuisine using locally-grown ingredients.

Might be a bit late, but just a try.
Indulge in the flavors of the bountiful mountains and countryside in this naturally blessed area of (NAME OF PREFECTURE or CITY), while embracing the essence of nature in each bite.

How would you translate 蒸しパン
1) Steamed bread 2) Steamed buns 3) Steamed cake 4) Steamed sweet bread
The ingredients are pancake mix and water/milk which are mixed and boiled in a plastic bag. Alternatives like adding pumpkin, sweet potato, cheese and replacing the liquid with green tea or juice are mentioned. Final product should come out in one lump which will be sliced
